Abstract
This study aims to test the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Children"s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (K-CSHQ) developed to measure sleep behaviors and problems in school-aged children. The parents of 831 (372 boys and 458 girls) elementary school children (first to sixth grade) from 9 elementary schools in 4 major Korean cities were recruited as participants. The scale reliability coefficient of K-CSHQ was .37 to .68 and the test-retest reliability coefficient of K-CSHQ was .43 to .85. Validity of the scale was checked via exploratory factor analysis of the eight factors, and it was found that three factors including sleep disturbance, sleep behavior problem, and sleep duration/sleep onset delayexplained 57.4% of the entire variance. This study found the Korean version of CSHQ(K-CSHQ) to be a reliable instrument in measuring sleep patterns and problems of Korean children.
